Inflation may be a bit of an issue nationally right now, but the good news is the economy has bounced back. That means even though we’re off to a rocky start to the New Year around the pandemic, there are lots of industries that look to grow in 2022. What are those industries? Let’s take a look at what jobs will be hot—and not this year.

Best Career Fields in 2022

1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence is an area of computer science that is growing by leaps and bounds. AI algorithms are being worked into every computer software program out there today, so if you understand this field, you will be automatically set up for future jobs.

2. Healthcare

Healthcare remains on the frontlines of the pandemic. The demand for qualified healthcare workers remains unbelievably high. These roles vary from front desk positions at your local hospital to doctors, nurses, home health, and just about everyone in between.

3. Biotechnology

Biotechnology, a subset of healthcare, is a high-growth industry, whether you are in food and agriculture or medicines. Biotech researchers are in high demand today, and the latest numbers show the biotechnology market is expected to grow by more than 7% in the next few years.

4. Green Energy

Green energy made the list this year, a fact that shouldn’t surprise you too much. The U.S. government is planning on investing more than $400 billion over the next ten years in this field. Electric vehicles, solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and energy-smart appliances will all be great fields to step into this year.

5. Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity continues to make the list, and it’s not surprising. The number of cybersecurity incidents in 2021 surpassed 2020 by 17%. Given the high demand for tech workers generally and cybersecurity, in particular, you should pay close attention to this field as one with great potential.

6. Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is also hot. Today, having a server rack on-premise is almost a liability. Workforces have gone remote, so the need for cloud computing experts to help maintain our virtual networks is high. Cloud computing is increasingly the go-to solution for corporations. Today, we store our data in the cloud and take advantage of these architectures to capture more real-time data than ever before.

7. The Internet of Things

If you can bridge the gap between computer hardware and software, the Internet of Things may be a good field for you to get into. IoT applications are the remote sensor devices such as your home Alexa, but they are also devices that monitor our health from afar and perform other important functions on our behalf. With billions of IoT devices coming online, the field is hungry for experts that they can put to work.
